Being a Servant Leader
Matthew 20: 27-28 – And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many
Jenny has been attending church for many years and has served on the Usher Board. Every year when she is asked to move to another department at her church, she humbly declines and states that she desires to continue as an Usher. Many of her friends don’t understand why Jenny wants to be an Usher, always on her feet giving someone a fan when they are hot, tissue if they cry and even a cup of water if she hears them coughing. Why would Jenny for so many years want to do the same thing over and over; is what her friends didn’t understand.
Jenny is exemplifying the role of a servant leader!
As Jesus; Himself illustrated to so many, that being a servant, one demonstrates the perfect leader!
The story of Peter and Jesus during the Last Supper when Jesus stooped down to wash Peter’s feet. “No Lord, you will not wash my feet” Jesus was being humble and even with all His Power and Glory, He washed the disciples feet. We must be just as humble as Jesus and illustrate the heart and mind of a servant to be an effective leader
God Bless You!
