If You Stick Around (A Letter To Suicidal Teens)

john pavlovitz

Dear Bullied Teenager,

I know you want to leave.

I know the horrible, endless walks through the hallways that you endure every morning, near vomiting.
I know the afternoon bus rides to Hell, where you sit frozen with fear, praying to just become invisible.
I know the locker room beat-downs, and the lunch room stares, and the wounding words behind your back, and the hateful taunts in your face.
I know how it takes every bit of strength you have, just to paint on a smile and pretend you’re OK, and to hide how much it hurts, and to act “normal”.

I know that all of this has left you exhausted; that you’ve drugged yourself, and cut yourself, and starved yourself, and sold yourself, in the hope that their voices will become silent, and their fists will be lifted, and you can finally breathe again.

I know that right now…

Your Life can be Blessed | www.blessedmagazine.org

20121101Once upon a time, my life was in turmoil.  I was stressed, a complete mess, but one day I heard the Word of God.  My life didn’t change immediately, but what did change was my attitude.  My life was still a mess because it would take some time with the assistance of God  to clean it up.  With my new-found attitude, God blessed me to have joy and peace in my life.  He quieted my spirit through His Word.  You too can have this joy and peace in midst of whatever you may be going through.  All you have to do is surrender completely like I did

Stay Blessed in Jesus name

Greater is He that is in You…….

1 John 4:4 – Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world

Here’s a thought: No one on this earth or beneath or above is greater than the Lord Jesus Christ when you accept Him into your life!

Jesus is real and He is alive!

Resist and Persist

James 4: 7-8: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you

You’ve probably heard this old saying, ‘you take one step towards the Lord and He will take two’, well that saying is true to a certain degree.  When we resist evil, we draw closer to the Spirit of God and when we draw closer, God, Himself draws closer to us with His Spirit

As believers, we must daily resist evil, but persist on walking on the path that God has laid out for us to follow.  Evil separates us from God in a way unimaginable and the only way for us to enter into His holy realm is to begin and continue resisting temptation to sin against Him.  When we break a commandment or commit some deed which is against His law, His ways, we drift farther and farther away from God.  However, if we strive to live the life that He so wants us to live, God will see and begin to work with you to bring you into His fold

Make that committment today to move closer to God and resist anything that would create a wedge between you and Him

God Bless You!

Being a Servant Leader

Matthew 20: 27-28 – And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many

Jenny has been attending church for many years and has served on the Usher Board.  Every year when she is asked to move to another department at her church, she humbly declines and states that she desires to continue as an Usher.  Many of her friends don’t understand why Jenny wants to be an Usher, always on her feet giving someone a fan when they are hot, tissue if they cry and even a cup of water if she hears them coughing.  Why would Jenny for so many years want to do the same thing over and over; is what her friends didn’t understand.

Jenny is exemplifying the role of a servant leader!

As Jesus; Himself illustrated to so many, that being a servant, one demonstrates the perfect leader!

The story of Peter and Jesus during the Last Supper when Jesus stooped down to wash Peter’s feet.  “No Lord, you will not wash my feet”  Jesus was being humble and even with all His Power and Glory, He washed the disciples feet.  We must be just as humble as Jesus and illustrate the heart and mind of a servant to be an effective leader

God Bless You!

Don’t Unplug Your Life Support!!!

John 15:5 – I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing

Young Bobby was involved in an accident which landed him in the hospital on life support.  After many months of being supported to the life support system, the doctors finally advised his parents that it was actually useless to continue with the treatment.  Bobby’s Mother told the hospital staff that as long as her son was supported by the life support system, she was not going to give up on him and to keep him connected.  Little did the doctors know that the leap of faith little Bobby’s Mother had to keep him connected, would eventually pay off as little Bobby awakened out of his coma

Stories like this is the same as it is for believers today to stay connected to Jesus through His BLOOD!

Jesus said that He is the VINE which is our life support system.  Without us being connected and covered through the BLOOD of Jesus, we are dead!  Dead spiritually!!!  Believers are connected like branches on a tree to Jesus.  Once we stop believing and obeying the Word of God, we fall away and like a branch, fall to the ground and die and become good for nothing but to place in fire

We know when we are falling away.  It is no mystery.  We don’t wake up in the morning and say ‘OMG, I am no longer connected to Jesus!’  Falling away occurs gradually when we allow sin to creep into our life.  And, as sin creeps in, our blood supply from Jesus decreases and soon we die and are completely fallen away

My fellow brother and sisters, stay connected!

God Bless You!

Everybody Talking about Heaven; Ain’t Going…….

Revelation 22:14 – Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city

There are so many people talking about heaven.  People attempt to interpret what Heaven will be like.  But what’s so sad, not everyone talking about Heaven will be going

You ask yourself; “Why would we make such a bold statement such as this?”

We say this because there are some who feel as long as they live a good life; a life without cheating, lying and doing wrong to another, they will simply walk through the Pearly Gates, but this is not the fact.  Jesus went back to Heaven and said He would send us a Comforter (the Holy Spirit) which would live within our hearts and without the Holy Spirit living within us, we have no power to rise or if we are in our graves to quicken our mortal body

Jesus came into this world to bridge a gap so that we could be saved from hell destruction and be re-united back to God and have access to the ‘Tree of Life’  And, because of that, God mentioned in His Word that no one could or would be saved unless they recognize the Son and be baptised by both water and the Spirit

“Don’t be fooled by the enemy and feel that because you don’t cheat, lie, steal or do other unholy things that you are going to Heaven!  Without the Spirit of the Holy Ghost dwelling within your heart and soul, you may be talking about Heaven, but Heaven is not accessible

Stay Blessed!
